Black Male Revisited: Imaging the Dark Divine

Configurations in Motion: Performance Curation and Communities of Color is the published proceedings of a two-day symposium presented by SLIPPAGE: Performance | Culture | Technology at Duke University in June 2015. Bringing together artists, curators, scholars, presenters, and cultural organizers from across the United States, the publication explores how performance curation can cultivate more equitable, community-centered practices while expanding the visibility and sustainability of artists of color.

The volume features essays, keynote reflections, artist biographies, symposium documentation, and critical discussions examining the intersections of performance, race, cultural memory, and contemporary curatorial practice. Included is jaamil olawale kosoko's essay, "BLACK MALE REVISITED: Imaging The Dark Divine," which reflects on the curatorial vision behind BLACK MALE REVISITED and considers exhibition-making as a space for dialogue, representation, and collective memory.

Within The (chrysalis) Archives, this publication documents an important moment in jaamil's evolving practice as both an artist and curator. It situates the work within a wider network of interdisciplinary practitioners committed to reimagining how performance is documented, presented, and experienced through collaborative, community-driven approaches.
