other.explicit.body. is a solo performance work created and performed by jaamil, premiering in 2012 at Harlem Stage’s E-Moves showcase in New York City.

The work explores the intersections of the body, eroticism, gender, and otherness, examining how identity and desire are shaped by social assumptions and expectations. Through movement and performance, jaamil confronts the ways bodies are seen, interpreted, and positioned within contemporary culture.

The project later expanded beyond the solo work, inspiring other.explicit.bodies., a curatorial platform that brought together experimental movement and performance artists to further explore questions of bodily sovereignty, identity, and representation.
