//shrouded\\ the spoken word experience

Released on May 29, 2026, //shrouded\\ is an album of original poetry and music drawn from jaamil olawale kosoko’s live not-performance of the same name.

The album carries the work into a sonic space, preserving and reimagining elements of the live experience through voice, poetry, composition, and sound. Across thirteen tracks, //shrouded\\ moves through a sequence of texts and sonic fragments that include “Follow the night,” “Sin,” “Becoming Anti-Christ,” “Onticide,” “Abyss,” “Effigy,” “Brother in the Tunnel,” “Black Love (Time out of Time),” “Presidential Reality Show, 47,” “Scrolling Urban Kill-Floors,” “Black Joy is the Protest,” and “Memory Origin.”

Rather than functioning simply as a documentation of a performance, the album creates its own listening experience. Poetry becomes material for sound, while music and composition create another way of encountering the language and ideas that emerge from //shrouded\\. The recordings offer an opportunity to return to the work through listening, allowing its texts, voices, and sonic environments to exist beyond the temporal space of live performance.

The release was executive produced by Kingsley Ibeneche and jaamil olawale kosoko, with mixing by Lee Clarke. Additional musical compositions were contributed by Black Maij, Kingsley Ibeneche, Mlondiwethu Dubazane, and Brian Bacong.

//shrouded\\ is available as a digital album, bringing together original poetry and music from the live not-performance into a recorded sonic work that can be experienced independently and revisited over time.
