//shrouded\\

NYC Premiere @ Lincoln Center, April 23–24, 2026

Convening of the Covenant 2

A living poetic sculpture where the body becomes archive, memory becomes movement, and the veil opens into a shared field of care.

What is //shrouded\

Naked Angel

//shrouded\\ is a living poetic sculpture and an immersive dance work. The body carries memory, resists erasure, and transforms in real time. Encased in rich brown silks, performers move through a slow ritual of concealment and reveal. The veil becomes a threshold. Visibility flickers. Breath gathers the room into a gentle commons.

Lineage and intention

Rooted in Black queer temporalities, this work traces legacies of displacement and disinvestment, then asks how we might alchemize what we inherit into futures of abundance. The performance holds space for grief, kinship, and collective imagination. Attention becomes a kind of care. Rest becomes a method.

“The body is an archive. We read it. We tend it. We pass it on.”

A Stake of Time

What you will experience

  • A sculptural landscape of brown silk that shifts with each gesture

  • Choreography that moves between seeing and unseeing, presence and echo

  • Sound and stillness that invite a slower nervous system and a wider field of noticing

  • A communal closing that honors what arrived, and what is yet to come

Why it matters now

Artists and communities continue to face extraction, censorship, and cultural forgetting. //shrouded\\ offers a refuge and a blueprint. It is both ritual and research. It invites audiences to practice another way to witness, one that preserves the work and the worker, one that builds legacy from within.
