jaamil is pleased to share the upcoming presentation of We Come to Collect at the RISING Festival in Melbourne. Rooted in Black queer temporalities, We Come to Collect investigates how bodies navigate the "wake" of crisis and find alternative modes of beauty and knowledge. By utilizing a multi-sensorial transmitter system, the work transforms the performing body into a vessel of shadow, metaphor, and light. Audience members are invited to enter as "co-conspirators" in a communal ritual of world-building, where their physical presence directly influences the environment’s sonic and visual landscape. This presentation marks a significant continuation of the studio’s commitment to establishing community-based infrastructure and sustainable creative legacies across international borders.
