//shrouded\\ is a living poetic sculpture and ceremony that casts the body as an archive of memory, resistance, and transformation. Performed by jaamil olawale kosoko and an ensemble of visionary collaborators, the work unfolds in rich brown silks and textiles that form a shifting veil, concealing and revealing, protecting and refusing as bodies move through states of metamorphosis. A mash up of poetry, sound, and sculptural movement, //shrouded\\ invites audiences into a communal act of remembering and reimagining, where absence becomes a passageway and disappearance becomes protection.
In an age shaped by surveillance and spectacle, //shrouded\\ asks: What does it mean to choose not to be seen? As performers slip between presence, invisibility, mourning, joy, figure and shadow, we question if it is possible for an intern-generational inheritance of extraction and disinvestment to alchemize into an abundant, coexistent future.
